Akshaya Tritiya : The Golden Day of Eternal Success
Akshaya Tritiya is considered as the golden day of the year, traditionally the birthday of Lord Parashurama, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The word "Akshaya" means imperishable - that which never diminishes. Initiations made or valuables bought on this day are considered to bring success or good fortune. This day falls on the third day of the Vaishakha month of Hindu calendar, when the sun and the moon are in exalted positions and at the peak of their brightness. Buying gold is a popular activity on this day, as it is the ultimate symbol of wealth and prosperity. Gold and gold jewellery bought and worn on this day signify never diminishing good fortune.
